Montreal Tango Festival (MTF) is a multi-day Argentine tango festival in Montreal featuring international maestros, workshops, milongas, performances, DJs, and community gatherings. MTF is produced by Tango Renaissance.
MTF 2026 takes place from Wednesday, September 2 to Monday, September 7, 2026.
Festival activities are based in Montreal. Main venue details, addresses, and any off-site locations will be listed on the Visiting Montreal page and in your registration confirmation.
MTF welcomes tango dancers from Montreal, Canada, the United States, and the international tango community. Some workshops may have level recommendations, but milongas are open to all registered attendees and ticket holders.
You can register through the official MTF registration form on the website. After submitting your form with your payment, you will receive a confirmation with your selected pass, workshops, milongas, and payment receipt details.
The festival may offer a Full Festival Pass, Full Milonga Pass, Gala Milonga Pass, and à la carte workshop and milonga tickets. Availability may change as capacity fills

MTF 2026 is planned with 21 workshops taught by three maestro couples, with a mix of technique, connection, musicality, dynamics, and advanced tango concepts.
Some workshops may require registration with a partner or may prioritize balanced roles. Please check each workshop description before registering.
Solo registrations may be accepted depending on the workshop, role balance, and available capacity. If partner balance is required, solo registrants may be placed on a waiting list until a matching role becomes available.
Workshop levels will be listed on the program page. Many classes are intended for intermediate, intermediate/advanced, or advanced dancers. Please choose workshops that match your current experience.
Some workshop topics may connect thematically, but the final structure depends on the maestros and the program. Any progressive requirements will be clearly stated in the workshop description.
Workshop changes may be possible only if space is available and the change does not affect role balance. Please contact the registration desk or festival team before attending a different workshop.

The festival schedule includes evening milongas from Wednesday through Sunday and a Monday afternoon closing milonga. Additional afternoon milongas may be announced.
Advance registration is strongly recommended, especially for gala milongas and events with performances. Door sales may be limited or unavailable if capacity is reached.
Selected festival milongas may include performances by invited maestros. Performance details will be announced on the Program and Maestros pages.
There is no strict dress code unless a specific milonga theme is announced. We recommend elegant, comfortable clothing and proper dance shoes.
Non-dancers may attend certain milongas or performance events if tickets are available. Please check the event description before purchasing.
